Sugilite is a stone that comes in a variety of colors including brown, a pale pink, yellow and black.
Most popular color is a deep intense purple and because of this beautiful hue, it is sometimes nicknamed the Purple Turquoise
The luster is usually waxy, but the color is extremely rich.
It was only discovered in 1944 by Japanese geologist Ken-ichi Sugi, off one of the islands in Japan , near Kyoto City.
