This is what oxblood coral looks like, really. 3 strands of antique hand carved and polished deep red coral, restrung with authentic vintage 9k gold clasp topped with 3 cabochons of matched color.

The story behind the piece: I got some loose faceted antique beads and no clasp; I decided to go to a 9k clasp from my own collection to compliment such beautiful deep red antique coral beads because the clasp is utmost important to me.
I am an historian of clasps as seen in my book: "CLASPS, 4,000 Years of Fasteners in Jewellery".

- Coral beads size: abt 4mm
- Coral color: true red, called “Moro” in Italy and “Aka” in Japan or even Oxblood. Its colour ranges from dark to very dark red, highly sought after
- Coral quality: hand polished, though slightly irregular, nearly free from growth marks
- Necklace length: abt 42 cm
- Stringing: freshly restrung, silk threaded with knots.
- Clasp material: 9K gold (750/1000) vintage box-clasp, 3 cabochons 5 mm,safety chain added
Age: 19th c.
